From Chris Newkirk, Beaufort County Emergency Services:

Our office is currently monitoring an increasing risk of severe weather for our area this evening and tonight. While the greatest weather hazards remain to our west, the threat area has been expanded to include more eastern locations over the last few forecast cycles. Please see below and attached briefing from the National Weather Service for details.

We encourage everyone to monitor local media outlets for additional updates as well as any watches / warnings that may  be issued.

From National Weather Service Morehead City:

We wanted to provide you an update to the timing of potential severe thunderstorms tonight.  The line of storms has already moved into the western part of the state and will move through Eastern North Carolina between 7 PM and Midnight tonight. Please ensure you have multiple ways to receive warnings and at least one that will wake you up.
