2023 Municipal election results

All unofficial election results have now been collected by the North Carolina State Board of Elections. There were 2,848 total ballots cast (or 29.98%) across the county out of a possible 9,826.
Results will be certified at a later date.
In the Town of Aurora, Steve McCormack and current Town Commissioner Coley Jordan were selected by voters.
In Bath, Jimmy Latham will continue to serve as Mayor and William Keith Tankard and John A. Taylor will continue to serve as town commissioners.
In Belhaven, Nathan van Nortwick and a write-in candidate were selected to serve as Aldermans East End. The State Board of Elections did not list the name of the write-in candidate. The write-in candidate received 29.78% of votes coming in second behind van Nortwick’s 33.50%.
Shanika E. Ebron will serve as Town of Belhaven Alderman West.
In Chocowinity, Jeff Haddock and Michael (Mike) Jones were selected to serve as town commissioners.
In Pantego, Mayor Stuart Ricks and Town Commissioners Mart Benson, Reid Gelderman, Chad Keech, Matthew vanNortwick and Chuck Williams received unanimous votes to continue serving the town.
In the City of Washington, current Mayor Donald Sadler received 1,265 votes (58.24%) and Bobby Roberson received 899 votes (or 41.39%). The first five candidates who received the highest number of votes are elected to serve on City Council. Unofficially, those candidates are Anthony Tyre, Richard Brooks, Antwan Horton, Lou Hodges and William H. Pitt. Brooks, Hodges and Pitt currently serve on City Council.
In Washington Park, Tom Richter was selected to continue serving as Mayor. Just as it is in Washington, the first five candidates with the highest number of votes are unofficially selected to serve as town commissioners. Those candidates are: Lee Bowen, Jeff Peacock, Wade Dale, Vail Stewart Rumley and Belinda Cowell.
