Susan Wilson, author of the newly published book, Women and Children First: The Trailblazing Life of Susan Dimock, M.D., will spend an event filled three days in Washington to promote her book. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Pat Kelsey and the Crescite Book Club, the public will have numerous opportunities to meet and greet Wilson, who has written the first biography about one of Washingtons’ true trailblazers. “I first learned about Susan’s upcoming book in a story that I read in the Washington Daily News last year,” said Kelsey. “I immediately began the process of contacting Susan about her availability to come to Washington and everything just fell into place. It has been a wonderful experience for me as everyone involved has been so eager to support the project.”

Kelsey also wanted to acknowledge the efforts of Stephen Farrell, Brown Library Historian, Ray Midgett, president of the Historic Port of Washington Project, Meg Howdy, executive director at the Washington Harbor District Alliance & Harbor District Market, and Leesa Jones, director of the Washington Waterfront Underground Railroad, Museum, who all played big roles in planning of the project. “I am honored to have been asked to be a part of this event and believe that Susan’s extensive research and hard work benefits the lives of Washington residents whether it be in the past, the present, or the future,” said Farrell. “Susan’s remarkable work reveals to the world the life of one of our city’s finest daughters and we, as a community, are thankful for her preservation of our city’s history.”
