Mr. Leland Phelps Cutler, age 87, a resident of Washington, NC died Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at his home.
The family received friends Friday, January 26, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 Noon at Woodards Pond Church of Christ. A funeral service was held Friday, January 26, 2024, at 12 Noon at the church officiated by Eddie Gurganus. Pallbearers were Timothy Cutler, Donnie Cutler, Jr., Cade Wallace, Jonah Rauf, Robbie Boyd, and Mark Wallace. Honorary pallbearers were Mr. Cutler’s other nephews and nieces.
Mr. Cutler was born in Beaufort County on September 27, 1936, son of the late Merton Theodore Cutler and the late Amanda Drusilla Delone Cutler. He was a graduate of Bath High School and served his country in the U.S Army. On December 23, 1961, he married the love of his life, the former Patricia Ann Andrews who survives. His working career consisted of being an installer with Hardee Plumbing and HVAC of Greenville. Mr. Cutler loved fishing, gardening, grafting different fruit trees and sharing his bounty from his garden with family and friends. He was a lifelong member of Woodards Pond Church of Christ and a servant of the church.
Surviving along with his wife: Pat of the home, are his brothers: Jerry Cutler and his wife Becky of Washington, Donald Cutler, Sr. of Washington; a sister: Gloria Delone of Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved as if they were his own. He was preceded in death by brothers: James, Sherald, and Walter Cutler; and sisters: Margaret Fisher, Eva Barber, and Maxine Cutler.
