Brackets have been released for NCHSAA wrestling regionals this weekend at various sites across the state.

A number of wrestlers from Beaufort County Schools will participate in the East regional individual tournaments, which determine qualifiers for the state championships Feb. 15-17 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.

Northside and Southside High Schools will send individual wrestlers to the 1A East Regionals at South Davidson High School in Denton. Weigh-ins begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb 2 and championship rounds will be completed Saturday, Feb. 3.

Individual wrestlers representing Washington High School compete at the 2A East Regional at Ayden-Grifton High School. Weigh-ins are at 4 p.m. Friday with championship rounds completed Saturday.

Washington wrestling coach Chris Penhollow said the Pam Pack is coming off a good week of practice.

“The guys are in good shape at this point of the season,” Penhollow said. “The seeds are a reflection of how hard they worked and performed this season. Nobody is going to be intimidated by the W on the singlet, boys will have to earn a trip to states. Top 4 placement in each weight class will punch their ticket. We have a few kids banged up and working through injuries, but that is normal this time of year. We are really excited to try and win the 2A East Regional Title.”
