WPD investigating fatal weekend shooting

On Saturday, Feb. 25 at approximately 6 p.m. officers received a report of shots fired with an injured person at E. 8th Street at Charlotte Street.
Upon arrival lifesaving measures were in progress by a bystander. The victim was transported to ECU Beaufort where he succumbed to his injuries. The male victim has been identified as 52-year-old Eric Whitney Sr. of Washington, NC.
