Mr. James Claude “Jimmy” Russ, age 77, a resident of Pantego, NC passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Autumnfield of Belhaven.

Jimmy’s wishes were that there not be any services.  If you would like to visit the family, they will be available at his home located at 24634 US Hwy. 264 E. Pantego.

Mr. Jimmy was born in Beaufort County on May 24, 1946, son of the late Melville Howard Russ, Sr., and the late Joanna Paul Russ.  He attended several schools over his younger years and graduated from Pantego High School in 1964.  On November 20, 1965, he married Marie Chambers who survives.  Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1967 until his obligation was completed.  He retired from Domtar of Plymouth after over forty years of service, most of which were while Weyerhaeuser owned the company.  As a member of Belhaven Lodge 509 A.F. & A.M. for over fifty years, he valued his time with his Masonic brothers.

In the union of Mr. Jimmy and his wife, two children were born: Tony Russ and his wife Nancy and Penny Russ and her companion Robert Nixon of Pantego.  He has three grandchildren, that he loved dearly: Dale Russ and his wife Hannah, Rachel Russ, and Christine Taylor and her fiancé Nick Dotson.  He is survived by a brother: Anthony Russ and his wife Janet of Fairfield along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents: Howard and Joanna; a brother: Melville Howard Russ, Jr; a sister: Paula Amos and her husband Doug; two nephews: Charles Amos and Clint Wallace; and one niece: Blake Amos.

Jimmy had a great love of animals, so he would appreciate memorial donations  be made to any society that works to care for animals or to give pretty flowers to someone that you love.
