On Friday, April 12, 2024 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report, by a Beaufort County School administrator, of a weapon being confiscated from a student at Southside High School.

Beaufort County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the school and assisted Allied Universal Special Police by collecting the firearm and investigating the incident.

As a result of the investigation, two students were charged. A .22 caliber handgun along with .22 caliber ammunition was seized as evidence. The criminal investigation is ongoing and future updates will be provided at a later date.
