The Washington High School girls soccer team earned their first Eastern Plains Conference championship in four years with a 2-0 home shutout of Farmville Central Tuesday night.

The Pam Pack did not allow a goal for the 12th time this season and avenged a 2-2 double overtime tie at Farmville two and a half weeks ago.
Washington has allowed six goals all year on the way to a 15-0-1 overall record and a 9-0-1 mark in conference games.

“Our defense has been outstanding all year and we’ve done it with two different goal keepers,” coach Kendall Cox said. “Eileen Escalona started the year in goal, but hurt her finger a while back and Addison Gibbs has stepped up and played well. The girls in front of her have done a great job communicating when the ball is and we don’t allow many shots on goal.”

Escalona gave WHS a 1-0 lead with 19 minutes left in the first half, then leading scoring Jamie Perez iced it from 15 yards out with under five minutes left.

“I didn’t’ say anything to the team after our tie at Farmville,” Cox said. “We just focused on winning the next game and the girls knew what they needed to do tonight. We executed very well and I’m super proud of being conference champs.”

Washington hosts Bear Grass Thursday in the regular season finale. Playoff seeds will be announced Friday.
