Mr. David Robert Rough, age 84, a former resident of 158 NC 92 East, Washington, NC died Wednesday April 22, 2009 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
A graveside funeral will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 24, 2009 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. Danny Barrow.
Mr. Rough was born in Marion County OH on February 18, 1925 son of the late Harvey Ulysses Rough and the late Fairy Smith Rough. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Rough married Louise Dail Buck on June 21, 1945 who preceded him in death in 1952. He then married Dallas Hodges on October 3, 1953 who preceded him in death on October 5, 1982. Mr. Rough was a certified Pipe Fitter, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Faith Free Will Baptist Church of Washington.
Survivors include two daughters: Donna R. Hearn of Winston Salem and Mary D. Gaskins of Washington; a sister: Nancy Ruth Buck of Havelock; four grandchildren; Patrick and Henry Hearn and Ashley and Kristen Roberson and one great granddaughter: Mackenzie Grace Olson. Mr. Rough was preceded in death by a son: David Y. Rough; a sister: Sabra Alice Pugh and a brother: Floyd Charles Pabst.
The family will receive friends 6 Pm to 8 PM Thursday April 23, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of Mr. Rough’s granddaughter Ashley Roberson located at 765 Whootentown Road, Washington, NC.
