HODGES, JR., JOSEPH F., age 78 of Sebring, FL, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Baltimore, MD and grew up in Little Washington, NC. Joe was a 1953 graduate of Eastern North Carolina University. In 1956 he moved to Broward County, FL; taught school from 1956-1966. He then became principal at Hallendale Elementary School in 1966. Some of the happiest times in his career were at Plantation Park Elementary where he was principal from 1968-1983. Joe moved to Sebring in 1987, enjoying his hobbies of clocks and watch collecting, woodworking and trap shooting with the boys. He attended Memorial United Methodist Church, Lake Placid. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hodges, Sebring; son, Andrew F. Hodges, Sunrise, FL ; daughter, Sue Gabrione, Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren, Andrew F. Hodges, Jr, Trista Hodges, Trace Hodges, Jimmy and Matthew Gabrione. Services were held on Wednesday, May 27th. In lieu of flowers, Dad would have liked a donation made to the Humane Society.
