Franklin D. Jones

Mr. Franklin D. Jones, age 75, a resident of 406 Cedar Drive, Washington, NC left this world to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday June 5, 2009 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Pastor Steve Webb. Pallbearers will be Melvin White, Jesse White, Lee Warner, Harry Gautier, Harris Ray Alligood and William Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Mr. Jones’ brothers-in-law.
Mr. Jones was born in Beaufort County on March 26, 1934 son of the late Benjamin Franklin Jones and the late Letha Fleming Jones. He attended Aurora High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Jones married the former Lorraine Woolard on December 24, 1958 who survives. He was a cook at the former Courthouse Restaurant and later was a welder with Brown &Root Construction Co. Mr. Jones was well known for his cooking and his excellent BBQ sauce which many considered as “the best in eastern Carolina”. He was a member of the Vineyard Community Church, the Disabled American Veterans and the Royal Order of the Moose Lodge where he cooked many years on Thursday nights.
Surviving along with Mr. Jones’ wife Lorraine of the home are a son: Stanley E. Jones, Sr. and his wife Lisa of Chocowinity and two grandchildren: Stanley E. Jones, Jr. and Ashley E. Jones. Proceeding in death along with his parents was a son: Jason Earl Jones. Mr. Jones was the last living child of his parent’s ten children.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today Thursday June 4, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
