Mr. Leslie Gray Daw, Sr., age 80, a resident of 2280 South Boyd Road, Bath, NC died Wednesday June 24, 2009 at the Beaufort County Medical Center.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday June 27, 2009 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. Curtis White.
Mr. Daw was born in Beaufort County on November 12, 1928 son of the late Charlie McCoy Daw and the late Fannie Davis Daw. He attended Beaufort County Schools. Mr. Daw married the former Ruby Mae Harris on February 26, 1956 who survives. He was a retired deck hand with the NC Department of Transportation, Ferry Division and a self employed farmer. Mr. Daw was a member of Sidney Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving along with Mr. Daw’s wife Ruby of the home are two daughters: Peggy Daw of Greenville and Dorothy Mills and her husband Dan of Goldsboro; two sons: Bennie Daw of Bath and Leslie Gray Daw, Jr. and his wife Susan of Chocowinity; a sister: Margie Daw of Washington; a brother: Charlie Daw of Plymouth; two sisters-in-law: Lula Daw of Bath and Frances Daw of Washington; five grandchildren: Stephen Smith, Jonathan Smith, Lindsey Smith, Jamie Mills and Bradley Mills; a great grandchild: Caitlyn Smith and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Daw was preceded in death by two sisters: Pearlie Burbage and Mary Duff and four brothers: Willie Daw, Frank Daw, David Daw and Ira Daw.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday June 26, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
