According to Washington City Manager James C. Smith, former city of Washington Fire Chief Jimmy Davis has been separated from his employment and is no longer a city employee, Smith indicated in a press release distributed Friday.
Fire Division Chief Robert Rose continues to serve as acting chief of the fire department. “We are extremely confident that Acting Chief Rose is very capable of carrying out the duties assigned to him,” Smith wrote in the release.
Smith issued a news release on June 17 indicating Davis had been placed on administrative leave.
In Friday’s press release, Smith indicated that city personnel matters are confidential, but that the city, through its attorney, had requested Davis execute a waiver that would allow the city to release certain information related to this situation.
Smith indicated that Davis, through his attorney, declined to execute the waiver that would allow the city to release the information.
