Washington’s experience certainly showed on the court, as the Pam Pack netters breezed to a 9-0 win over Jacksonville.
The win Tuesday afternoon came in dominating fashion. With that victory, the Pack improved to 11-0 overall.
“Our girls just dominated today,” Washington coach Michelle Elks said. “Jacksonville has a young team and they are working hard, but our match experience won out today. The girls are excited to still be undefeated at this point in the season, and we are excited for them.
“We have so many seniors and this is really making great memories for them of their last year of tennis at WHS. All of the girls are playing with enthusiasm and have great team spirit. They are such fun to coach.”
Janie Page, Tierra Locklear and Shannon Niederhauser made quick work of their opponents as each posted a shutout. Page topped Stephanie Wangren 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, Locklear knocked off Morgan Redick 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Niederhauser defeated Liz Gallagher 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
Hayley Stowe nearly did the same at No. 2 singles. The senior coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 nod over Rylie Osborn.
Beth Batchelor remained unbeaten at No. 1 singles after notching a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Alysse Banta. D’Lorah Pierce earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles over Brittney Jones.
The Pack also dominated in doubles, dropping a total of two games. Batchelor/Stowe beat Banta/Osborn 8-2 at No. 1, Page/Locklear took care of Wangren/Jones 8-0 at No. 2 and Pierce/Niederhauser dropped Redick/Gallagher 8-0 at No. 3.
Exhibition winners were Erin Stowe, Mary Potocki, Mary Margaret Fowle, Tatum Edwards, Kimberlyn Jones and Samara Romero.
“I was especially proud of some of our younger girls in exhibition play today,” Elks said. “They will have some big holes to fill, and I always have an underclassman begging to take the court. That makes me very happy.”
The Pack returns to action Tuesday at Havelock.
