Millicent J. Waits

Millicent Jennette Waits died peacefully in her home on June 17, 2012, at the age of 102.

She was the daughter of Jones Samuel Jennette and Lillie Belle Mann. She was married to U.S. Air Force Major Joseph Alexander Waits of Gainesville, Fla., who preceded her in death.

Millicent is survived by her children Judy Mann Waits, William Harvey Waits and wife Andrea, Jennette Waits English; son-in-law Thomas English; granddaughter Bonnie Jo Waits and great-granddaughter Stormy Madison Heroux.

Her daughter, Bonnie Jo Waits preceded her in death.

Millicent enjoyed tours of duty with her husband in Japan, Alaska, Illinois, Louisiana, Florida and North Carolina. After her husband’s retirement they settled in Lake Landing in her ancestral home built in 1808. Millicent was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Lake Landing. She served as senior warden and president of the church women. She was secretary of the church cemetery for 20 years and received a commendation from the Bishop of the diocese in appreciation.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. George’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.
