Katherine Mary Holtz and Donald Wayne Mills Jr. were united in marriage Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 5:30 in the evening in Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Medina, N.Y. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Fr. Daniel J. Fawls. A program of wedding music was presented by organist and vocalist Aaron Grabowski.
The church was decorated with traditional pieces of blue delphinium, white oriental lilies, yellow mums, baby’s breath and asparagus fern. The memory vases mirrored the flowers used throughout the wedding, which included delphinium, gerbera daisies, roses and filler flowers in blues, whites and shades of yellow. Blue bows adorned the end of the pews.
The bride is the daughter of Robert H. Holtz of Medina, N.Y., and the late Karen Holtz. She is the granddaughter of the late Germain and Henrietta Holtz, and the late Howard and Mildred Keep, all of Medina, N.Y.
The groom is the son of  Donald and Beverly Mills of  Williamston, N.C. He is the grandson of the late Charles and Dorothy Godwin of Williamston, N.C., and the late Charlie and Faye Mills of Spring Green, N.C.
The bride was escorted by her father Robert H. Holtz. She chose a Robert Bullock satin and net fit and flare gown with beaded lace applique and ruched net yolk. Her veil was edged with lace from her mother’s wedding gown. She carried a round clutch bouquet of yellow roses, yellow gerbera daisies, baby’s breath, solidago and monte casino.
The bride’s honor attendants, Jessica Thorne, matron of honor, of Attica, N.Y., and Michelle Peede, maid of honor, of Greenville, N.C., wore royal blue satin full length off the shoulder gowns. Serving as bridesmaids were Julie Green of Lake Villa, Ill., Amanda Richards of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., Wendy Stancill of Williamston, N.C., and Paige Stanley of Greenville, N.C. They wore royal blue satin tea length off the shoulder dresses. The bouquets were of different shades of yellow gerbera daisies.
Flower girl was Abigail Green and ring bearer was Benjamin Green, both of Lake Villa, Ill.
Kelly Inscoe, of Williamston, N.C., served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Charles Celebrezze of Columbus, Ohio; Joshua Cowan of Williamston, N.C.; David Holtz of Medina, N.Y.; Daryl O’Neal of Williamston, N.C.; James Michael Price II of Wilmington, N.C., and Ryan Stancill of Williamston, N.C.
Leslie Wright and Kristen Launer were program attendants and Danielle LeBlanc attended the register.
The mother of the groom chose a Frank Lyman Design dress and coordinating shawl.
The bride, a graduate of Suny Brockport, earned an undergraduate BS in Elementary Education, and a Master’s degree from East Carolina University in Elementary Education. She is a first grade teacher at G.W. Carver Elementary School in Pinetops, N.C.
The groom attended East Carolina University. He is employed at Miller’s Sports, Trophies & Embroidery.
After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple is residing at 203 N. Edgewood Ave., Williamston, N.C.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Doubletree by Hilton in Rochester, N.Y., hosted by Robert H. Holtz. The tables, covered in ivory linens, were decorated with multi-colored gerbera daisies and tea-light candles. The three-tier wedding cake was topped with ivory icing and blue edible butterflies. First layer of cake was chocolate with buttercream frosting; second layer was vanilla with raspberry frosting.
On Friday evening, an after-rehearsal dinner was held at Doubletree by Hilton in “The Atrium,” in Rochester, N.Y., hosted by the groom’s parents, Donald and Beverly Mills. Tables were covered with ivory linens with gold overlays, topped with hurricane centerpieces with blue, yellow and white silk flowers surrounded by votives.
