Lucille Rowe Parker, 86, of New Bern, died December 4, 2012 at home.
Mrs. Parker’s professional life began as a switchboard operator at Carolina Telephone and Telegraph. After starting a family, she and her husband opened their first neighborhood store on Neuse Blvd. They expanded with a series of stores including Parker’s Town N’ Country. Mrs. Parker later owned and operated a successful garden center where she cultivated her love of flowers and gardening. She enjoyed traveling, spending time at her beach house and watching her grandchildren grow.
Lucille is survived by a son, Gregory C. Parker and wife Jamison of New Bern; a daughter, Susan Parker Lee and husband Don E. Lee, III of Arapahoe; one sister, Hyacinth Lewis of Georgia; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Penny Dollar Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at the funeral home.
