Southside students complete an uplifting project

Southside High School students Kyajia Mourning, Naomi Brown, Katie Boyd, Brandy Dobbs, Ethan Richardson, Holly Street, Jeanette Vargas, Fernando Hernandez Peralta, Jeremy Lance Gonzales, Azia Ray, Ka’Shauna Harvey, Darrius Whitley and Holly Perry have been nominated for Project Uplift, a program that enables high-achieving rising seniors to experience college life on the campus of the UNC-CH.
Students spend two days visiting classes, meeting with faculty and staff, interacting with Carolina students and participating in cultural and social activities.
Project Uplift is designed for academically motivated students from underserved populations, prospective first-generation college students and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. The nominees show active involvement in extracurricular activities and have demonstrated leadership.
