Murphy Keys

July 31, 1923 ­– May 20, 2013

 

Mr. Murphy Keys, a resident of 842 of Peach Place, Fort Mills, S.C., and formerly of Beaufort County, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at Carrington Place Nursing Home in Matthew, N.C.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Temple of Jesus Christ. Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2013 at Leon Randolph Chapel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will follow in St. John Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Blounts Creek.

Mr. Keys was born July 31, 1923, to the late Josephus and Elizabeth Moore Keys. He was a 16-year-old graduate of P.S. Jones High School. He was married to the late Annie Elizabeth Keys. Mr. Keys was a member of Reedy Branch AME Zion Church and was an excellent concrete contractor. For the last four years of his life, his caretakers were his grandson, Lyndon Keys, and his wife, Almeta Keys.

Survivors include two sons: Ruffin Keys Sr. of Washington and Charles Murphy Davis Keys of Blounts Creek; two sisters, Veva Keys and Virginia Moore, both of Blounts Creek, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington.
