MATTAMUSKEET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL | CONTRIBUTED TACKLING EDUATION: Wille Smith, San Diego Chargers’ offensive tackle, visited MES March 7 and spoke to students about the importance of their education, as part of their Dr. Suess “Read Across America” week. A former ECU Pirate and Smithfield native, Smith met students Pre-K through 5th grade in the multi-purpose room to give encouraging words about making the most of their time in school. Smith also encouraged students to begin setting short-term goals and practicing reaching those goals, regardless of their age. The students then shared a question and answer session with Smith.
