FOR A GOOD CAUSE: Pictured above are some of the door prizes graciously given by local merchants for the Literacy Volunteers Card/Game Party. Spaces are still available for this fundraiser event at the Washington Yacht and Country Club on Sept. 30, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A delicious lunch is planned and an afternoon with friends playing whatever game participants select. Past events have included tables of bridge, mah jong, hand and foot, Scrabble, Mexican Train and lots of others. Make your reservations by calling Literacy Volunteers at 252-974-1812. The cost of lunch and play is a donation of $25. There is also a 50/50 drawing for those who wish to participate. The proceeds further the work of Literacy Volunteers of Beaufort County to help legal adults who need free tutoring in reading, writing, speaking and math. Please join us!
