LARRY L. JONES

 

Mr. Larry Langley Jones, age 76, a resident of 189 Jones Avenue, Blounts Creek, died Monday, December 29, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ, Blounts Creek, conducted by Marty Alligood.  Burial will follow in Warren Memorial Cemetery, Blounts Creek.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  Charles Keys, Freddy Moore, Granuel Moore, Nick Bahhur, George Winman and Pastor Robert T. Brown.

Mr. Jones was born in Beaufort County on December 24, 1938.  He was the son the late Ralph Orville Jones and Annie Laurie Weston Jones.  Mr. Jones graduated from Aurora High School in 1957.  He was a retired staff engineer with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.   Mr. Jones was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ and the Coastal Plains Chapter of the Antique Auto Club of America.

On November 7, 1965, Mr. Jones married the former Gloria Jean Rascoe, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are his son, “Lang” Jones of Blounts Creek; his daughter, Cassandra Jones of Blounts Creek; his grandson, Stephen Lee Jones of Jacksonville; his sister, Jo Ann Smith and husband, Charles of Blounts Creek; sister in law, Vickie Jones of Washington; and niece, Terrie Jones Johnson.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
