BILL THORNE CAHOON

Sept. 14, 1934 – May 18, 2015

 

Mr. Bill Thorne Cahoon, age 80, a resident of 2214 Slatestone Road, Washington, died Monday, May 18, 2015.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 22, 2015 at The Salvation Army, 112 East 7^th Seventh Street, Washington, conducted by Major Jim McGee.

Mr. Cahoon was born in Beaufort County on September 14, 1934. He was the son of the late Henry Stanley Cahoon and Maggie Estelle Cox Cahoon. Mr. Cahoon was a truck driver for over 60 years.  He drove for FCX, Southern States, J.C. Hill Concrete and Keith and Sally Respess. Mr. Cahoon was a member of The Salvation Army. He was a good provider and enjoyed his grandchildren. In his spare time, Mr. Cahoon enjoyed working out in his yard and watching Westerns.

On February 21, 1959, Mr. Cahoon married the former Sharon Lynn Thurman, who preceded him in death, December 27, 2009.

Mr. Cahoon is survived by two daughters, Major Donna McGee and husband, Major Jim McGee of Wilson, Lorie Cahoon Pate and husband, Ed of Washington; two sons, Vernon Cahoon and William Cahoon both of Washington; one sister, Fannie Sutton of Elizabeth City; nine grandchildren, John Paul McGee and wife, Samantha of Hendersonville, N.C., MichaeI William McGee and wife, Rebecca of Atlanta, GA., Caleb Nicholas McGee of Wilson, Crystal Lynne Cahoon of Washington, Eric Cahoon of Greenville, William Glen Cahoon, Jr., Ashley Cahoon, Gary Wayne Beacham, Jr., Kimery Brinkley Gregory and husband, Timothy all of Washington; and nine great grandchildren, Joshua McGee, Anna McGee, Paige McGee, Lily Grace Woolard, Summer Breeze Ingalls, Hayden Noel Gregory, Savannah Gracelynn Beacham, Justus Hayes Beacham and Jonas Thorn Beacham.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Cahoon was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Edward Cahoon and one sister, Estelle Gurganus.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Lorie Pate, 104 Beech Lane, Rosedale, Washington.
