Mrs. Polly Mae Campbell Mayo, age 69, a resident of 3016 Possum Track Road, Chocowinity, died Thursday afternoon June 11, 2015 at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday June 15, 2015 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and officiated by Jim Marshburn. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Mayo was born in Beaufort County, daughter of the late William H. Campbell and Essie May Beddard Campbell. She attended Beaufort County Schools and earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Beaufort County Community College. Mrs. Mayo worked as a nurse at Beaufort County Hospital, Martin General Hospital and Britthaven Nursing Home. Her passion was working with patients in the nursing home. She financially supported the Wounded Warrior Program and sponsored a child through Feed the Children Program. She married Charlie Edward Mayo who survives.

In addition to her husband, Charlie, of the home, she is survived by her son: Carl Edward Mayo of Washington; her daughters: Beth Lee of Greenville, Tina Taylor and fiancé Gary McDaniel of Cove City and Betsy Hopkins of Belhaven; her grandchildren: Laura Harlin of Greenville, Suzanne Lee of Greenville, Sarah Lee of Belhaven, Chris Hopkins of Belhaven, Kaila Rebollar of Wilson, Kasie Nixon of Belhaven, Shannon Baker of Chocowinity, Sarah Mayo of Greenville and Dylan Mayo of Washington and her great grandchildren: Trenton Hobson of Chocowinity, Taliyah Hobson of Chocowinity and Brian Harlin of Greenville.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son: Chris Hopkins and her brothers: Bill Mac Campbell, Kit Campbell, Harvey Campbell and Mark Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, c/o Patient Assistant Fund, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC  27889.
