Fighting Ebola in Nigeria

When an American-Liberian lawyer landed in Lagos, Nigeria and collapsed in the airport with Ebola, it could have been the beginning of a catastrophic epidemic, except that the Rotary Global Polio Eradication team was already in place there.

So the team of 100 plus doctors and even more nurses immediately quarantined 893 persons.

This quick action by a Rotary medical team resulted in keeping the number of Ebola cases in Nigeria to just 20 with only eight of those dying.
