Larry Allen Simonds, 60, of Plymouth, died Friday, November 2, 2007, at Britthaven Nursing Home in Snow Hill.
Mr. Simonds was born July 29, 1947 in Plover, Wisconsin to Francis F. and Florence J. Simonds. He was a graduate of Stevens Point High School, Stevens Point, Wis. and North Central Technical Institute, Wausau, WI in Data Processing. He spent most of his working career as a Senior Systems Analyst for White Motor Co./Volvo Heavy Trucks. He was employed by Beaufort Logistics (Faith Trucking) of Plymouth.
Mr. Simonds served in Vietnam in the 101st Airborne of the US Army 1969-1970.
He was point man on the Tiger Troop Reconnaissance Team for 16 1/2 months and the recipient of the Bronze Star.
Mr. Simonds was a member of the VFW Post 4023 and the American Legion Post 164 in Plymouth. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Couples III Sunday School Class. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Simonds is survived by his wife, Lorita Still Simonds; his brother, Louis M. Simonds (and Cindy) of Plover, Wis.; stepdaughter, Jacqueline Sue Hamblin (and Steve) of Northglenn, Colo.; grandchild, Anastasia DeMary of Winston-Salem, N.C.; nephews, Logan, Levi and Lucas Simonds of Plover, Wis.; John C. Mann of Mountain City, Tenn., and niece, Krista Mann Manuel of Midlothian, Va.. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, Jerry Dale DeMary.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Plymouth, on Sunday, November 4:00 at 4 p.m. with visitation immediately following the service. Burial will be in Plover, WI on Saturday, November 17 with military honors.
