NORFOLK, V.A. — Gladys Etheridge Thomas, 92, of Norfolk, Virginia formerly of Columbia died on Friday, April 6, 2018.

Born October 26, 1925 in Tyrrell County she was the daughter of the late Jessie M. Etheridge and Annie Copeland Etheridge and was preceded in death by her husband, Malcom “Tex” Errol Thomas; son, David Errol Thomas; sisters, Alethia Jones, Kathleen Swain and Polly Oliver and brother, Jessie Allen Etheridge.

Her family includes her grandchildren; David Rogers and wife Lori of Nashville, TN., Brandy Hicks and husband Robert of Port Richey, FL., Sabrina Walrath and husband Todd of Jacksonville, FL. and adopted granddaughter, Carol Ann Hughes and husband Rob of Norfolk, VA. and their families including great and great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Her beautiful smile, infectious attitude and warm heart will be remembered for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sound Side Free Will

Baptist Church with Reverend Royce Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 16, 2018 following the service in the church fellowship hall.
