Calvin Blythe Davis, 63, of Swan Quarter, North Carolina, died at home on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
Blythe was born on May 1, 1955, in Washington, North Carolina, and was the son of the late George Thomas Davis, Sr. and Alma Lee Cathey Davis. He was raised in Swan Quarter and graduated in 1973 from Christ School in Arden, North Carolina. He earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University in 1977, married Kelly (Nagel) Davis in 1984 and was involved in farming his family land in Hyde County until his death.
Blythe loved Hyde County, its rich farmland, and beautiful wildlands. He was fond of birds and bird dogs, salvage sales and using his hands and creativity to craft custom farm tools, cabinetry and his original home. He will be remembered for his deep love for his family and special friends, his honesty, hard work and good will.
Blythe is survived by his wife, Kelly; his daughter, Anne Blythe Davis; his son, Coleman Calvin Davis; his brother, George Thomas Davis, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Katherine Little Davis; and several nieces and nephews and their children.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ School Class of 2018 Scholarship Fund c/o Christ School, 500 Christ School Road, Arden, NC, 28704.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at the family plot in Soule Cemetery, Swan Quarter. Bryan Funeral Service is assisting the family.
