Lenwood Aaron Horton

Mr. Lenwood Aaron Horton, age 71, a resident of 29 Driver Road, Washington, and formerly of Goldsboro, died Wednesday evening, July 18, 2018, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at First Free Will Baptist Church in Washington, officiated by Pastor Doug Radford and Pastor Bruce Kimbrell. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.  until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the church family life center and other times at the home.

Mr. Horton was born in Harnett County on May 11, 1947, son of the late Wilbur Bliss Horton and Pauline Blaine Bowden Horton. On June 8, 1968, he married the former Sharon Doreen Blanton, who survives. In 2009, he retired from Piedmont Natural Gas with 40 years of service. Mr. Horton had served as a deacon at Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro and attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Washington.

In addition to his wife, Sharon, of the home, he is survived by his sons, Chad Horton and wife Lauren and their daughter, Blaine, of Chocowinity, and Michael Horton and wife Susan, of New Bern, their three children, Kris, Brian, Brett and wife Charlotte, and four grandchildren, Alayna, Elizabeth, Landon and Brynn; his brothers, Gerald Horton and wife Connie and Cleo Horton and wife Fran, all of Linden, NC; his sister, Teresa Flowers and husband Don, of Erwin; his mother-in-law, Peggy Blanton, of the home; and special extended family members, Carol Pleasants, Dianne Capps, Brenda Blanton, Nicole Radford Gibson and Lauren Radford. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Wilcox.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SECU Family House @ UNC Hospitals, in memory of Lenwood Horton, 123 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.
