Published 6:24 pm Friday, July 20, 2018

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs, ENC Shelter Cats and Washington Cat Rescue on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.

Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.

Please note, the shelter is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for cleaning and maintenance.

Louis

Friendly, happy, sweet and smart, Louis appears to have had some training, and he sits on command and accepts dog biscuits like a true gentleman — gently without touching fingers with his teeth or lips. At 3 years old, Louis, an American pit bull terrier mix, is handsome in his white and black shorthair coat with artistic markings. This large boy will do best with a loving, attentive and active family who will spend time with him, give him plenty of regular exercise and play — preferably in a fenced area or on a leash, give him obedience training, and of course, a good forever home. Louis’ ID is No. 1080.

Come meet this nice fellow; he’s available at the shelter.

Marbles

Packed with personality and appropriately named, this little guy wears an American medium-hair coat in swirls of grays and ebony resembling — yes, marbles. Just wanting to be loved, held and showered with attention, our 2-month-old chatterbox is very good at expressing his desires. But he quiets right down when his yearnings are satisfied; and when he’s given the love, warmth and stability of a good forever home, he will blossom into a devoted friend, pet and companion.

Come in and meet Marbles, ID No. 1087; he will definitely greet you with his warm welcome.
