Willard O’Bryan Grissom, 82, of Kinston, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at UNC Lenoir Healthcare.

Willard was born and raised in Chocowinity and was employed by Weyerhaeuser for 43 years. He was an accomplished musician and loved bluegrass music and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Willard is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Willard Grissom and Annie Belle Nobles Grissom, and sister, Betty Elks.

Willard is survived by his wife, Judy Elizabeth Fornes Grissom; sons, Steven Grissom and wife Kim, of Kinston, and Joey Grissom and wife Anita, of Concord; grandchildren, Matthew Grissom and wife Cai, Kinsey Grissom, Lindsey Davis and husband Josh, Kacey Kendall and husband Brendan, Emily Gerard and husband Alex, Hannah Grissom and Jacob Grissom; and sister, Carolyn Haddock.

Visitation will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral begins at 2 p.m., with Pastor Joel Cannon and Pastor George Williams officiating.
