The 15th annual JR Simmons Memorial 4-Wheelin’ Rally is less than two weeks away, on Saturday, Sept. 28.

“Dorian didn’t slow us down; we cleared the trails yesterday so they are ready, and the Side x sides should be able to access the muddy trail this year,” Joie Spencer, rally coordinator, said Sunday.

Come feeling clean & leave feeling dirty!

To obtain registration forms visit www.visittyrrellcountync.com and click on Calendar of Events; or go to the TVFD Facebook page and print the form.

Entry fee is $30 for each ATV, UTV or dirt bike; $15 for each additional rider.

Riders aged 16 and under must be accompanied by a guardian.

A DOT-approved helmet is required for all ATV or dirt bike riders. Goggles are highly, highly recommended, Spencer urges.

Lunch will be provided for all participants.

The meeting point is TVFD’s Frying Pan substation approximately six miles south of Columbia on N.C. Hwy 94.

Participants must be in line and ready to ride at 10:30 a.m. “No late comers, please!” Spencer said, “and no alcoholic beverages will be allowed.”

Questions may be directed to Fire Chief Johnny Spencer at 252-394-5287 or Trey Liverman at 252-916-4486.

All proceeds from this event will go to Tyrrell Volunteer Fire Department Inc., a not-for-profit corporation that supplies contracted fire prevention and suppression services from its main station in Columbia and five rural substations throughout Tyrrell County.

“Thanks for your support of this TVFD fundraiser,” Spencer said.
