Russell Edwin Spalti, age 71, resident of Aurora, passed away on Sept. 2, 2020, at his residence.

He was born to Norman and Beverly (Fullington) Spalti in Buffalo, New York, on Oct. 22, 1948. He was one of four children. Following his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, and following his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he reenlisted with the United States Marines, obtained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and retired in 1994. Following his retirement, he was active with the Marine Corps League and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Barthel) Hopkins-Spalti; children, Joseph Scott Spalti, Lynette Morris and Michael Spalti; seven grandchildren; and two brothers. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Beverly Spalti; children, Matthew Spalti, Shawn Hopkins, Erick Spalti; and one sister.

His service will be held 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Aillsa Harl, LT, USN, officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service.
