Mr. Edward Benton Tetterton, 83, of Plymouth died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth.
Born February 26, 1923 in Washington County he was the son of the late William Benjamin and Isoland Harrison Tetterton and was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Allen Tetterton; brothers, Ronald Tetterton, Robert Tetterton, Floyd Tetterton, Melvin Tetterton and Hilliary Tetterton. Mr. Tetterton was co-owner of Tetterton’s Cleaners and served on the Plymouth Police Department. He was the founder of Washington County Emergency Medical Services, commander of American Legion Post 164 for many years and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Perseverance Lodge No. 59, The Scottish Rite, a Shriner and member of First Baptist Church.
His family includes his daughters, Wanda T. Wrightson and husband Charlie and Janice T. Young and husband Ricky of Plymouth, N.C.; brothers, Daryl Tetterton of Dubuque, Iowa and Marshall Tetterton of Florida; grandchildren, Dean Wrightson and wife Laura and Jay Wrightson; and great-grandson, Josh Wrightson.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Plymouth with the Rev. Jimmy Hagwood officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens with full Masonic Rites. Family will receive friends following the services at the graveside. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
