Mrs. Louise Swanner Taylor, age 84, a former resident of 147 Honey Pod Farm Road, Washington, N.C. died Tuesday January 22, 2008.
A graveside funeral will be held 12 noon Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Dr. Michael Price.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Beaufort County on March 25, 1923 daughter of the late Walter Swanner and the late Virles Cox Swanner. She was a 1940 graduate of Washington High School. She married Snodie R. Taylor who preceded her in death on January 29, 1975. Mrs. Taylor had a career with Cooperative Savings and Loan then later as a realtor with her own business. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Washington where she actively participated in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Mrs. Taylor was a long time member of the Washington Woman’s Club and advisor to the Junior Woman’s Club for ten years. She traveled extensively with friends and as a member of the Colonial Friendship Force.
Survivors include a daughter: Catherine T. Whichard and husband, Roy, of Washington; four grandchildren: Susan W. Tankard and husband, Robert, of Bath, C. Taylor Whichard of Washington; Sean T. Travis and wife, Beth, of Richmond, Va. and Jaime N. Travis of Ashland, Va.; four great-grandchildren: Hayden Tankard, Madison Tankard, Colton Travis and Derrick Travis and a sister-in-law: Bea T. Straughn of Vero Beach, Fla. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by a daughter: Jean Taylor Travis; a sister: Laura Leigh Swanner; a brother: Walter D. Swanner and a second husband Harmon Davis.
The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mrs. Taylor’s daughter Cathy Whichard located at 105 Justin Drive, Washington, N.C.
