Mrs. Mattie Parker Leggett, 84 of 929 Leggett Road, Washington, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at her home.
A funeral service will held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2008 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Rev. Karen Crutchfield and Rev. David Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park, Greenville. Justin Leggett, Tommy Parker, William Cratch, Ward Parker, Will Cratch, Oliver Roebuck, Johnny Leggett, and John Allen Whitehurst will serve as pallbearers. Jimmy Leggett, Blaney Parker, J.D. Adams, Clayton Barnhill, Ricky Parker and Jerry Parker will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Hillside Funeral Service, and other times at the home.
Mrs. Leggett was born November 15, 1923 in Pitt County. She was the daughter of the late Elmer B. Parker and Mae Hines Parker. She was a graduate of Stokes High School. On November 6, 1943, she married Hoyt Guilford Leggett, who survives. Mrs. Leggett was a homemaker and a member of Wharton Trinity Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her husband, Hoyt Guilford Leggett; one daughter, Bonnie Cratch and husband, Harvey of Washington; two sons, Hoyt Guilford Leggett, Jr. and wife, Pam of Wilson, and Danny Leggett and wife, Debbie of Washington; two sisters, Olive Roebuck of Stokes and Ophelia Carraway of Abington, VA; seven grandchildren, William Cratch, Jr., Susan Lane, Kim Woolard, Justin Leggett, Jenna Liessner, Braxton Honeycutt and Mia Leggett; and five great-grandchildren, Zane Woolard, Dawson Woolard, Will Cratch, Jessie Cratch and Mattie Lane.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
