Mrs. Virginia L. Guerra, 78, of Belhaven, N.C. and formerly of New York, died Sunday, March 9, 2008.
Mrs. Guerra was born in Robersonville, N.C. on June 26, 1930 to the late Cora L. Mabry and Lee Perrin. Mrs. Guerra gave her life to Christ, becoming a beloved member and mother of Bethel Church of Christ located in Roper, N.C. She retired from Letchworth Village Mental Institution in Thiells, N.Y. Mrs. Guerra and her late daughter, Ms. Donna M. Grant moved to Belhaven in 2005.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharion L. Winfield and a son-in-law, James C. Winfield of Belhaven, N.C.; a host of very close and dear friends, to mention a few, Ida Johnson, Janice and Will Ellegore, Betty Counts, Vanessa Hicks, Bonnie McGee, Patrick Doherty, Mo and Larry Sorrento, Karen and Pedro Mercado.
A special thank you to the honorable Elder Benny Mackey who is preaching the word of God and gave Mrs. Guerra the desire to give her life to God.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Bethel Church of Christ, Roper, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the home, 489 East Pungo Street, Belhaven, N.C.
