Mrs. Jean Wilkins Keech, age 70, a former resident of Pungo Village in Belhaven, died on Monday, April 7, 2008, at Pungo District Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Ryder Hill Cemetery and will be officiated by Medford Hopkins of Mt. Gilead Pentecostal Holiness Church. Dale Latham, Wade Kirk, Donald Keech, Jr., Chris Hudnell, Bernie “Winky” Underhill and Billy Daniels will serve as pallbearers. Greg Waters and Walter Johnson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Keech was born in Beaufort County on May 23, 1937 to the late Hubert Sylvester Wilkins and the late Rhoda Foreman Wilkins. On June 27, 1955, she married Grady Leon Keech who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Gilead Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include two sons: Donald Keech and his wife Margaret “Margie” of Pamlico Beach, Perry Keech and his wife Betty of Brunswick, Ga.; two daughters, Sheila Carr and her husband C.L. of Greenville, Rebecca Lewis and her husband Jesse of Lake Gaston; two brothers: Alford Wilkins and his wife Bootsie of Pamlico Beach, Nathan Wilkins of Chocowinity; one sister: Ann Roberson of Belhaven; six grandchildren: Melissa, Angie, Dale, Susan, Wade, DJ; and three great-grandchildren: Faith, Christopher and Kendall.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home located at 6889 Free Union Church Road, Pinetown.
Flowers are welcome and appreciated or the family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made to Mt. Gilead Pentecostal Holiness Church, 208 W. Pantego Street, Belhaven, NC 27810.
