Mrs. Amy Lou Hardison Williams, 69, of 6577 E. H. Williams Road, Jamesville peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 7 at Beaufort County Hospital.
A closed casket funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Maple Grove Christian Church in the Farm Life Community with Jay Hardison, Richard Smartnick, and Tony Varner officiating. Burial will follow at the family cemetery. Brian Ragan, Bryan Padgette, Josh Gurkin, Sam Joyce, Christopher Williams, and Bobby Hill will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Williams was born in Beaufort County on July 24, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Elmo Sidney and Delphia Cox Hardison of the Old Ford Community. She was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School. Mrs. Williams was a retired registered nurse. She retired in July 1988 after 24 years of service at Beaufort County Hospital, the final 10 years as Assistant Administrator for Patient Services.
Mrs. Williams was married on June 11, 1971 to E. H. Williams who survives. She was a faithful member of and beloved Sunday school teacher at Maple Grove Christian Church.
Survivors include children Winnie Williams Morgan and husband Ken of Hillsborough, Alan Williams and wife Lynn of Wilmington, Polly Williams Padgette and husband Ronnie of Knightdale, Beth Williams Mizelle and husband Steve of Washington, Dr. Billy Williams and wife Cathy of Raleigh, and Caroline Williams Joyce and husband Chuck of Oak Ridge; one sister Jo Ann Hardison Brewer-Bass and husband, Hilton of Wilson; eleven grandchildren Crecia Morris, Jamie Ragan, Bryan Padgette, Ashley Padgette, Josh Gurkin, Mandy Gurkin, Courtney Williams, Christopher Williams, Amy Grace Williams, Kelli Joyce, and Sam Joyce; and two great-grandsons; Cole and Greyson Ragan.
She was preceded in death by one brother Elmo Cox Hardison.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and at other times at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maple Grove Christian Church Building Fund. Memorial donations should be mailed to the church office at 1500 Maple Grove Church Road, Jamesville, NC 27846.
