Doris Mae Modlin Manning

WILLIAMSTON — Doris Mae Modlin Manning, passed away at the age of 79 on Thursday, May 23, 2008 in Williamston at The Vintage Inn Retirement Home, where she had been living since 2002. She was born in Jamesville and grew up there until she married Leslie W. Manning. They lived in Plymouth for over fifty years where they worked and raised their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Queenie Martin Modlin, her son, Leslie W. Manning, Jr., of New Orleans, her husband, and her sisters, Ann Swinson of Jamesville and June Calloway of Wabash, Indiana and her brothers, Ronnie Modlin of Jamesville and Elmer Modlin, Jr., of Madrid, Spain.
She is survived by her daughter, Margo B. Manning Tasker, son-in-law Jeffrey Tasker, and three grandchildren, Della, Ivan and Jacob Tasker of New Orleans. Other survivors are her sister, Nell Bowen of Olathe, Kansas and her brother, Ken Modlin of Jamesville. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plymouth. She spent much of her life as a homemaker and often worked as a substitute teacher for Plymouth schools. She spent time with her husband and children working on their farm on the Mill Pond Road in Roper.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Plymouth. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
