Mr. Lee Thomas Sikes, 49, of 115 Sparta Way, New Bern, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Cutler Family Cemetery, Washington, N.C.. Heath Willard, Dwayne Willard, John Cutler, Carl Woolard, Derek Woolard, and Mike Lassiter will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Hillside Funeral Service, Washington and other times at the home of his sister, Vida Sikes Cutler, 8680 Highway 264 East, Washington, N.C..
Lee was born August 13, 1958 in Jacksonville, Fla. He was the son of Nora Frances Davenport Gurkins and the late David Daniel Sikes, Sr. He was a 1976 graduate of Bath High School. Lee was employed for the past three years as a project manager for Brygde and Lee, Inc. of New Bern. He was married to Julie Mae Sowards Sikes on October 3, 2007. Lee was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Julie S. Sikes; his children, Serena Sikes of Willow Springs, N.C., Johnnie Lee Sikes of Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska and their mother, Tina Hoffman Sikes of Willow Springs, N.C., and Matthew Edens of the home; three sisters, Vida Sikes Cutler and husband, Mitchell of Washington, N.C., Elaine Sikes Tigchelaar and husband, James of Washington, N.C., and Renee Sikes DeSouza of Grant, Ala.; one brother, David Daniel Sikes, Jr. and wife, Marilyn of Lawton, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
