Mrs. Catherine Deloris Sykes Bowser, 59, of 801 Secota Village, Columbia, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Chowan Hospital in Edenton.
A funeral will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Calvin Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in Sykes Cemetery, Columbia.
Mrs. Bowser was born in Tyrrell County on March 17, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Lucy C. Sykes and Charlie C. McClees. She had been employed in home health care.
Survivors include two sons, Loomis Spruill Jr. and Arthur O. Spruill, both of Columbia; three daughters, Hope Williams of Trenton, N.J., Angela C. Brown of Portsmouth, Va., and Ursula Spruill of Garner; three brothers, Jefferson Barrow of Virginia, Jerry T. Bailey of Roper, and Mitchell McClees of Edenton; four sisters, Mary Bailey and Annie Davis, both of Trenton, N.J., Shari McClees of Edenton and Fonda Jennings of Florida; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Rowsom Funeral Home, Columbia.
