Mrs. Edith Dunning Smithwick, 86, a resident of Three Rivers Nursing Home, Windsor, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Edgewood Cemetery with the Rev. Reese Blanchett officiating.
Mrs. Smithwick was born in Aulander on July 9, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Herbert E. and Modie Lee Rogerson Dunning. She was married to Alfred Jordan Smithwick, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Cashie Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty S. Madren of Raleigh, and Ann S. Totty of Richmond, Va.; one son, Billy Smithwick of Windsor; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Windsor Fire Dept., P.O. Box 805, Windsor, NC 27983 or the charity of one’s choice.
