SEVERN, N.C. — Marion Eugene Miller, 74, a former resident of Hyde County, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Uganda, Africa. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sarah Zook Miller; two daughters, Jan Beiler of Pantego, N.C.; and Donna Wagler of Crosshill, S.C.; six sons, Dale, Roger, and Wesley, all of Severn, N.C.; Gary of Pantego, N.C.; Wendell of Rutherfordton, N.C.; and Eric of La Esperanza, Mexico. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. One great-grandchild preceded him in death.
Mr. Miller lived near Pantego in Grassy Ridge from 1965 to 2004 where he was pastor of Hope Mennonite Church and owner of Pantego Overhead Door Company. From 2004 to 2007, he was pastor at Cedar Fork Mennonite Church in Beulaville, N.C. From 2007, he served as pastor at Severn Mennonite Church in Severn, N.C. At the time of his death, he and his wife were in Jinja, Uganda, Africa, for a six month term serving under Lake Victoria Mennonite Mission.
The funeral will be held at Severn Mennonite Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 26. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 25.
