PINETOWN – The Northside Air Force Junior ROTC Drill Team recently competed in the West Montgomery Drill Competition. Over 20 schools from across North Carolina traveled to Asheboro to compete in this annual event. Some of the biggest and best ROTC programs faced off for the one-day competition in various drill exhibitions.
Cadets prepared months in advance in hopes of taking home top honors in any of the events which include the Regulation Arms and Unarm routines and Color Guard competition.
Northside cadets felt the excitement of success as they were recognized among their peers as being first place within the Regulation Element without Arms category.
Northside cadets had the opportunity to visit the North Carolina Zoo during their travel to Asheboro. Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Aldo Plasencia (senior) and Squadron Commander and Cadet Major Hayley Jones (senior) Drill Team Commander received high praise from fellow Northside teammates for their leadership in this accomplishment.
