Fourth man arrested on larceny charges

Two men who were arrested last month on larceny and false pretenses charges were arrested last week along with a third for a similar crime. Charles Justin Bauer, 18, of Pollard Road, Chocowinity, Seth Ray Simpkins, 21, of Harding Street, Chocowinity, were arrested a second time, along with Matthew Thomas Roughton, 21, of the Pollard Road, Vanceboro. All three were charged with one count of felony larceny and one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretenses for the Dec. 26 theft of an electronic metering device, according to a press release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 5, Simpkins was arrested and held at the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $4,000 secured bond; Feb. 6, Roughton was held under a $1,000 secured bond after turning himself into at the Magistrates’ Office; and Bauer was arrested on Feb. 7 and held under a $5,000 secured bond.
