Happy Chinese New Year

Stacia Abbe’s Pre-Kindergarten class celebrated Chinese New Year recently at Snowden Elementary School. After learning about Chinese customs such as why red is so important, making their own paper lanterns, learning how to read the Chinese Zodaic and making connections between cultures they ended with a parade. The girls wore traditional Chinese dresses and all the students carried paper lanterns on sticks. As they paraded through the hallways, they greeted onlookers with “Gong Hey Fat Choy,” Cantonese for Happy New Year.
