According to the spokesman for the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office drug unit, the traffic of heroin flows from Greenville to Beaufort County.

Some of that traffic was stopped last week, when investigators with the drug unit stopped a vehicle on its way back to Washington from Greenville.

According to a press release from the drug unit, 19 wax bindles holding dosages of heroin were recovered by a vehicle search on U.S. Highway 264 West near VOA Road, in addition to a couple of doses of Suboxone sublingual film.

Gary Wayne Clark, 52, of West Second Street, Washington, and Christine Moore Woolard, 56, of Ball Road, Washington, were arrested — Clark, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of schedule III controlled substance; Woolard, with possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, maintaining a vehicle to facilitate drug activity and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“He had some in his sock and she had some under her in her seat—there were drugs all over the vehicle,” said a spokesman for the drug unit.

Clark and Woolard were held at the county jail under at $20,000 secured bond.
