PINETOWN — The Northside Volleyball Team held their 4th annual Dig Pink volleyball game on Oct. 9, 2014. They sold t-shirts and sweatpants ahead of time to raise money for cancer research. On game day, they sold pink bead necklaces and pink bracelets, both of which were a big hit. The Northside and Southside volleyball teams signed a pink and white volleyball and a Dig Pink t-shirt, both of which were sold in a silent auction to raise extra money for the cause. The winners were announced at the end of the varsity volleyball game. They also, for the first time, had a memory and survivor wall where people could write names of those loved ones lost to cancer and to celebrate those who survived cancer. The ribbons were displayed all night on the wall for all to see. The Northside booster club is also donating half of their proceeds to the cause, which totaled $154. The Dig Pink volleyball game itself with its fundraisers and donation box raised $1,200. The total for the night that will be donated to the Side Out organization for cancer research is $1,354. It was a great night and a great cause and the school thanks all those who donated and all the students and teachers at Northside for their excitement and willingness to be a part of the event.
